China plans to extend nationwide crackdown on food items

China will extend its crackdown on substandard food products into the New Year and will focus on 28 categories of food to help restore confidence in the "made in China" label, according to a government statement. The sale of such products without the necessary quality and inspection certificates will be prevented and violators will be punished, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said.
