PEAK Surgical eyes growth in electrosurgery market

Palo Alto, Calif.-based PEAK Surgical has started manufacturing PlasmaBlade -- a radio-frequency cutting device that the company says can be applied in more than 2 million surgical procedures -- as part of its plan to tap into the $1 billion market for electrosurgery. The company is setting up a national sales force for the distribution of the device once it gets FDA approval, expected in the first quarter of 2008.
