When it comes to finding a new job these days, who you know has more impact than what you know. But as John Boyd points out, not every social network contact is equal and it's not necessarily helpful to ask contacts you don't know that well for vocational help. While job leads are always welcome, online contacts can help with more than that -- they can help edit a resume and offer access to additional pools of close contacts.
