LGBT community helps LAPD launch youth program

The decision by the Los Angeles Police Department to replace the Boy Scouts' Life Explorer program for youths with its own version because of the Scouts' anti-gay policies could lead to other police departments in the state taking a similar approach, according to this blog posting. The LAPD has received at least $16,000 in grants and donations to help offset the costs of new uniforms and other expenses associated with the launch of the program.
