Report: 100 journalists killed on the job in 2009

One-hundred journalists lost their lives while performing their duties in 2009 after two years of decline, Canadian Journalists for Free Expression says. A group of 31 journalists lost their lives in a vicious attack in the Philippines at a news conference in November, while others were murdered for their reporting or killed in military encounters. Dozens more are missing or imprisoned because of their work, the group said.
