Small-business expert Steve Strauss predicts 10 of the top trends SMBs will experience in 2013 -- and one of them is an increase in digital word-of-mouth. "Word-of-mouth used to be just that ... but today, word-of-click is more appropriate," he writes. That means small businesses will need to become even more watchful of what customers say about them online, as not all online buzz is positive, he explains. "Consumers and customers are ever more empowered to tweet, post, blog and share their opinions with the world, and increasingly, they are doing [that] via their smartphone."
