The Federal Communications Commission's Michael O'Rielly in a blog post emphasized that the Rural Utilities Service must "coordinate with the FCC to ensure the implementation of regulations preventing any overbuilding of USF funding recipients." Congress recently allocated $600 million in new funding to the RUS for a rural broadband pilot program, which O'Rielly noted could be key to filling in coverage gaps in the US if the program is executed "in a thoughtful and coordinated manner."
