A mobile diagnostic device was created and patented by a team of researchers from Spain's Rovira i Virgili University to enable real-time detection and quantification of tumor cells in blood samples. The device, which was the subject of a study published in the journal Scientific Reports, has been licensed to Medcom Science for commercialization and comes with an optical system for analyzing and tracking cancerous cells, as well as noncancerous ones, and a system for facilitating flow of blood cells in alignment.
