A voluntary medical device field action has been released by Zimmer Biomet for its Rosa Spine, Rosa Brain and Rosa One surgical robotic platforms because of an imperfect mathematical model that could create movement issues in the systems' robotic arm that could result in serious injury, ineffective treatment or death if the error happened when the arm's movement occurred inside a patient's anatomy. A software patch for correcting the error is expected to be released by the company in August, and no customer reports of issues have been received.
