Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency has given Quidel approval for its Sofia Influenza A+B Fluorescent Immunoassay for use with the Sofia Fluorescent Immunoassay Analyzer, designed for high-throughput batching methods. The combination of the assay and system provides results on the instrument's screen in hard copy and in an electronic form that can be transmitted to medical center and hospital databases.
