Indian health authorities are considering adding such medical devices as orthopedic implants, heart valves, intraocular lenses and catheters to the National List of Essential Medicines, which would cap prices in a manner similar to those already in place for coronary stents. The government requested price and production information on 19 commonly used medical devices.
