A merger agreement has been reached by Illumina spinout Grail and Hong Kong-based startup Cirina, both of which are aiming to market liquid biopsy tests for detecting cancer; financial terms were undisclosed. The deal, which makes Cirina a subsidiary of Grail, also calls for Cirina co-founder Dennis Lo to be appointed to Grail's scientific advisory board and as a scientific co-founder of the combined company.
