FasterCures submitted comments in response to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) proposal to create an Office of Patient Affairs. In our letter, we point out that while FasterCures has long supported efforts to enhance and improve the science of patient input, we are unable to offer our support for establishing the office at this time without more clarity from FDA as to how this office will be resourced, how it will interact with FDA's medical product review centers, and how it will influence existing patient engagement efforts. Instead, we urge FDA to explore ways to improve or enhance existing structures and offices at FDA, or to provide more clarity regarding the structure and objectives of the Office of Patient Affairs.
