Having a nut allergy and gluten sensitivity does not stop registered dietitian Lindsey Janeiro from gaining the nutrition benefits of nuts and eating a healthy, balanced diet. Janeiro says chia and flax seeds contain alpha-linolenic acid, just like walnuts, and when she has a salad, she substitutes nuts for other healthy fats, such as pumpkin or sunflower seeds, avocado or an olive-oil dressing.
