Researchers found that the rate of children and teens in the US who visited the hospital for suicidal thoughts and attempts rose from 0.66% in 2008 to 1.82% in 2015, with the biggest increase among girls and those ages 12 to 17. The findings in Pediatrics also showed that hospital encounters for suicidal ideation and attempts were higher in the fall and spring months than during summer and winter months.
