Hurricane Nate shuts most Gulf of Mexico offshore oil production

Hurricane Nate forced offshore oil companies to curtail 92.61%, or 1.62 million barrels per day, of Gulf of Mexico oil production as of Sunday, according to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement. Meanwhile, 77.74% of offshore gas production, or 2.5 billion cubic feet per day, was also shut.
