Researchers in the UK formed a graphene monolayer with chemical vapor deposition, immediately followed by atomic layer deposition of alumina, coating the graphene with a layer 25 to 50 nanometers in thickness. This fabrication process improves graphene's qualities as a barrier material, they say.
