Superbugs, or bacteria that have developed resistance to antibiotics, may have an effective nemesis in the form of a synthesized compound. Researchers at North Carolina State University started with a molecule produced by marine-dwelling bacteria, using parts of it to ramp up its antibacterial qualities and produce a compound that shows promise killing superbugs in the lab.
