Healthy older men with blood sodium levels slightly lower than normal had a higher risk of cognitive decline over time, compared with those who had normal levels, researchers reported in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. Higher-than-normal sodium levels also were linked to an increased risk of cognitive impairment.
