Patients with type 1 diabetes who participated in KnowIt, an educational/behavioral intervention, or OnTrack, an emotion-focused intervention, showed dramatic reductions in diabetes distress, 78.4% of whom reduced at least one minimal clinically important difference, according to a study in Diabetes Care. Researchers also found significant, but modest, A1C reductions among patients in both groups, and an association between change in diabetes distress and change in A1C.
