A study in Diabetes Care showed that severe hypoglycemic events increased the risk of heart failure, nonfatal cardiovascular event or hospitalization for unstable angina, nonfatal stroke and nonfatal myocardial infarction among adults with type 2 diabetes and CV disease. German researchers analyzed data from the TECOS trial involving 14,671 patients and found no difference in severe hypoglycemic event incidence between those who received sitagliptin or placebo.
