A UK study in the European Heart Journal found having lower diversity of healthy bacteria in the gut was associated with greater arterial stiffness among women. The findings, based on TwinsUK registry data for 617 middle-aged women, also showed women with more bacteria from the Ruminococcaceae family had lower arterial stiffness.
