A study in Diabetes Care showed that there was a significantly greater reduction in HbA1C over time among low-income Hispanic patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes who received up to three motivational, educational and/or call-to-action text messages daily over six months, compared with the usual care group. Researchers analyzed 126 diabetes patients and found that those in the intervention group also reported high satisfaction and acceptability ratings.
