A study published in the Journal of Diabetes revealed that the Epworth Sleepiness Scale questionnaire had the highest positive predictive value, likelihood ratios, specificity and area under the curve in predicting obstructive sleep apnea among type 2 diabetes patients, while the STOP and STOP-Bang cutoff 3 questionnaires performed best for those without diabetes. Greek researchers used a cohort of 700 patients with and without diabetes and found higher positive predictive values and specificities when STOP-Bang was assessed using a cutoff of 5.
