A study in JACC: Heart Failure found that the majority of risk of heart failure among women with new-onset atrial fibrillation was associated with four modifiable risk factors: diabetes, obesity, hypertension and current smoking status. The findings were based on data for 34,736 participants in the Women's Health Study without heart disease at baseline.
