A study in the journal Diabetes/Metabolic Research and Reviews found that 12 weeks of probiotic supplementation was associated with faster healing of foot ulcers in diabetes patients compared to those on placebo. Patients received standard wound care in addition to capsules containing lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus casei, lactobacillus fermentum and Bifidobacterium bifidum.
