The risks of high fasting glucose and high body mass index among women may be independently predicted by levels of serum spexin, a newly identified neuropeptide, according to a study in the Journal of the Endocrine Society. Chinese researchers evaluated 68 women, median age of 39, and found a negative association between serum spexin concentration and fasting glucose, BMI, age and triglycerides.
