The CMS outlined rules for states that want to add work and community engagement requirements to Medicaid eligibility and is expected to begin approving waiver requests already submitted by 10 states. States may require that beneficiaries have jobs, including as caregivers, volunteer in their communities, undergo treatment for substance use disorders, or undergo job training to qualify for Medicaid benefits.
