A study in Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases showed that leptin to adiponectin ratio may be used as a biomarker for obesity-related metabolic disorders, such as insulin resistance, leptin resistance and delayed postprandial triglyceride clearance. Norwegian researchers recruited 67 adults with and without obesity and found those with a leptin to adiponectin ratio of 1.88 had an odds ratio of 48 for having at least two metabolic disorders.
