J.C. Penney leverages mobile proximity in stores

J.C. Penney is using its mobile app to ensure that it is "consistently proximity aware" when it comes to in-store shoppers, according to James Meeks, the retailer's mobile product director. Among other things, the strategy includes the offer of "use and kill coupons" valid only on the day they appear.
