Oil production from the Bakken Shale is expected to hover between 1 million and 1.1 million barrels per day into 2018, with output growing by 10,000 to 15,000 per day month over month, North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources Lynn Helms said. However, a number of challenges including increased competition from the Permian Basin and the likelihood of OPEC's supply cut deal not being extended could hamper production growth.
