Congresswoman pushes for more state control over oil, gas development

Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and other members of Congress have introduced a bill that would give states more authority over matters related to oil and natural gas permitting, leasing and production on federal land. The bill would leave federal royalties unchanged and allow states to impose fees on the industry in addition to taxes, all while keeping national parks or wilderness areas off-limits to energy development.
