Alaska senator introduces bill to open Arctic refuge to drilling

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, on Wednesday introduced a bill that would allow oil and natural gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for the first time. The bill, which needs a 51-vote majority in the Senate to become law, would require the Interior Department to hold at least two lease sales within the ANWR's 1.5-million-acre coastal plain over the next 10 years.
