Southern California Edison will meet with a citizens group to discuss the future of used nuclear fuel currently being stored at its San Onofre nuclear plant in an attempt to settle a lawsuit filed by the group. If the Yucca Mountain repository in Nevada was completed, it could accommodate between four and nine times the 70,000-metric-ton storage limit originally set by legislators, according to the Nuclear Energy Institute.
