The Electronic Frontier Foundation and the American Civil Liberties Union are suing the federal government on behalf of people who say agents conducted warrantless searches of their devices at US airports and the country's northern border. A 2014 Supreme Court decision created a higher hurdle for law enforcement to search cellphones if officers have no warrant.
