The Dark Overlord hacker group has stolen hundreds of thousands of patient records over the past year from medical and dental offices and threatened to sell them on the black market or post them on the internet if the clinics do not pay a ransom. The records can be used for fraud and blackmail, says Robert Lord, chief executive of cybersecurity firm Protenus.
