Researchers found that levofloxacin prophylaxis is beneficial in reducing bacteremia risk in pediatric patients with relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia or acute myeloid leukemia after undergoing intensive chemotherapy; however, the treatment did not lower the risk of bacteremia in children receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Findings were reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
