A survey of 1,090 patients at 14 cancer centers in Ireland found there was a significant lack of understanding about how clinical trials operate, even among those who had participated in one, researchers told the European Society for Medical Oncology 2017 Congress. More than one-half of patients who had taken part in a clinical trial did not understand randomization and 63% thought their physicians would ensure they got the better treatment.
