Data showed patients treated for stage 3 colon cancer who consumed at least 2 ounces of nuts per week had a 42% reduced risk of cancer recurrence and a 57% lower likelihood of death from the disease, according to a study to be presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology's annual meeting. A second study showed colon cancer survivors who scored the highest for having a healthy lifestyle had a 42% reduced risk of death, compared with those who had the lowest scores.
