Australian and US researchers found that older adults with dementia had an 11% increase in medication use and 17% greater use of potentially inappropriate drugs, such as pain and depression drugs, sleeping pills and proton pump inhibitors, one year after diagnosis. The findings were published in The Journals of Gerontology: Series A.
