Patient follow-up after fecal tests may boost colonoscopy rates

The use of patient navigators and patient reminders, as well as providing endoscopists test data, may help boost follow-up colonoscopy rates among adults with positive fecal blood test results, researchers reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Researchers said timely diagnostic colonoscopy after a positive fecal test result is a critical part of colorectal cancer screening, but fecal testing will not be effective without follow-up on positive results.
