A survey of more than 600 women receiving prenatal care in Southeast Texas by researchers from the University of Texas Medical Branch found the biggest challenge in preventing Zika virus may be a lack of knowledge about how it is spread and contracted. Of those surveyed, 80% were unaware of how often infections resulted in symptoms and 50% did not know that Zika is spread not only by mosquitoes but also can be transmitted through sex.
