The Cessna 172 has remained mostly unchanged over the past 60 years, making it the world's oldest plane still in production. More than 43,000 Cessna 172s have been built, and the plane is a popular training tool: "More pilots over the years have earned their wings in a 172 than any other aircraft in the world," said Doug May, vice president of piston aircraft at Textron Aviation.
