Researchers found that children who took acetaminophen within the first 48 hours after cardiac surgery had modest protection against acute kidney injury. The findings in JAMA Pediatrics, based on data involving 666 youths with a median age of 6.5 months and a validation cohort of 333 youths with a median age of 14.1 months, also found higher acetaminophen doses were associated with reduced AKI risk.
