Issuance of corporate bonds so far in 2018 has decreased 14% year over year, SIFMA data show. Growth in borrowing has been more sluggish overall, with Federal Reserve data for March showing a 2.5% increase in banks' lending to companies, whereas the average monthly growth rate has been 7% for the past three years.
