Veterinarian Melinda McCall and Louisa Community Animal Response Team leader Donnie Embrey were recently honored for their role in rescuing about 530 animals of 17 different species that were being kept in substandard conditions at a Virginia farm. Dr. McCall devoted 80 to 100 hours to the case, in which an elderly woman kept goats, geese, guinea pigs and other animals for which she was unable to provide care.
