Ten manatees that were stranded near a warm-water outflow in South Carolina's Cooper River were rescued in a joint effort coordinated by SeaWorld and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Veterinarians from the Jacksonville Zoo and the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine evaluated the animals' health, released nine in Brevard County, Fla., and continue to care for a female showing signs of cold stress.
