Enrollment is underway for a clinical trial at Oregon State University's Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital on a nanoparticle-enhanced surgery technique for canine mammary cancer. Dogs will receive an intravenous injection of a fluorescent nanoparticle compound to guide tumor excision followed by infrared laser therapy that heats the remaining nanoparticles, which kills residual cancer cells.
