More than 500 veterinary students shared research at the National Veterinary Scholars Symposium last month, and organizers say students benefited from the chance to connect with peers, prospective collaborators and residency opportunities. Research experience is valuable even for students who ultimately pursue careers in clinical practice because it gives them hands-on experience with biomedical studies and the research behind evidence-based medicine, said veterinarian Andrew Maccabe, CEO of the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges.
