Veterinary clinics in the Charlottesville, Va., area are trying to determine the cause of an outbreak of pertussis-like coughing in dogs. Autumn Trails Veterinary Center manager Emily Gordon says the clinic has treated 22 well-vaccinated dogs in the past week, and she suspects dogs are picking up a pathogen at dog parks, grooming facilities and kennels.
